
Update 1.17 Patch Notes
Update 1.17 was a major patch for AFK Arena.
It was released on May 20th, 2019.
Here’s the full patch notes for it.
New Heroes
Added the new Wilder hero: Eironn – Stormsword (Agility Hero)
Added the new Mauler hero: Safiya – Daughter of the Desert (Intelligence Hero)
New Hero Wishlist Feature

Added the new hero ‘Wishlist’ feature that allows players to add their desired heroes to the wishlist, increasing the chances of those heroes being summoned from regular and factional hero sets (Does not affect the odds of Legendary heroes).
In-game Info:
- You can add up to 5 heroes per faction to your hero wishlists for a total of 20 heroes.
- Elite heroes have a greater chance of matching your wishlist heroes if any Elite heroes are produced however the overall odds of Elite heroes being produced is not affected.
- Removing all heroes and leaving only one hero in the wishlist will not increase the odds of that hero being produced.
- Hypogean and Celestial heroes cannot be added to wishlists.
- When selecting heroes for your wishlists, newly added heroes will have the word “New” displayed on their portraits, to help you more easily find and add the newest heroes to your wishlists.
The wording is a bit confusing, but it seems like you can place one hero in the wishlist and it will work, but the increased chance won’t multiply because there’s less heroes in the wishlist.
New Campaign Chapters
Added two new campaign chapters:
- Chapter 26 – Blazerock
- Chapter 27 – Preying Jungles
New Adventures

Added two new adventures to the Peaks of Time:
- The Savage Wastes (Requires Stage 16-4 completed)
- The Solar Plane (Requires Stage 17-4 completed)
New Artifacts
Added two new artifacts:


- Dura’s Chalice of Vitality
- Dura’s Conviction
New Regal Rewards Feature

Added a new reward feature called ‘Regal Rewards’ wherein rewards can be unlocked by completing daily and weekly quests.
You’ll earn “Medals of Valor” from completing daily and weekly quests. Collected a certain amount of medals will unlock a new tier of rewards. The basic rewards are Rare Hero Soulstones.

However, you can also purchase a “Premium Pass” that will unlock additional rewards per tier. These rewards are Elite Hero Soulstones & Diamonds.
In-game Info:
- Regal Rewards become available 8 days after the creation of a new account profile.
- Regal Rewards is a time-limited reward system which lasts for 49 days.
- More Regal Rewards can be unlocked by using Medals of Valor, which can be acquired from the ‘Dailies’ and ‘Weeklies’ quest chests.
- Any regal rewards that do not get collected before the event has concluded will be sent to players via the in-game mail system.
New Battle Wager Feature

Added the new ‘Battle Wager’ feature to the Legends’ Championship tournament that allows players to double their gold by betting gold on the players they think will win.
In-game Info:
- Players are able to place battle wagers on Legends’ Championship competitors. All players are able to choose a competitor to support in each round of the tournament whom they think will be victorious. If the competitor that they supported is victorious, then the player wins the bet. If the competitor they supported loses, the player in turn loses the bet. Players that are competing in the tournament finals may only support themselves.
- The choice of competitors available to bet on are determined by the game’s system. The system will prioritize competitors that share the same guild or same language as the player that is placing the bet.
- Players must possess 2 days worth of gold from AFK Rewards in order to place a wager.
- If the supported competitor wins the round, the player will win back double the amount of gold originally placed as a wager. Players can receive their winnings via their inbox.
New Quick Battle For Guild Bosses

Added the ‘Quick Battle’ feature to guild hunts which can be unlocked after reaching VIP level 6.
(You can’t do this for the first battle for some reason).
New Chat System

Added a complete new chat system which can be found where the ‘Friends’ tab was previously located. The ‘Friends’ tab can now be found in the top right hand corner below the ‘Mail’ tab.
(If you can’t see the new chat, you’ll have to update the game via the app store).
Misc Changes
Added a new hero reminder feature at the Stargazer, that allows players to be notified when their desired hero appears at the Stargazer.

Changed how relics are displayed when receiving them in the Arcane Labyrinth and Peaks of Time.
Easter Eggs are no longer in use and have been recalled. Players will be sent 50,000 gold coins via their inbox for every egg that was in their possession.

What was formerly called ‘Ladders’ can now be found under the ‘Ranhorn’ tab at the new structure called the ‘Wall of Legends’.
Added additional quests for ‘Complete the third floor of the Arcane Labyrinth X Times’. Players that have already completed the this quest more than 50 times can begin completing additional quests starting from ‘Complete the Arcane Labyrinth 50 times’ quest.
Optimizations

Optimized the way gear is equipped by heroes. Heroes can now directly swap gear with one another.

Optimized how ‘Hour Glass’ item resources are displayed, allowing players to see the exact amount of resources that will be received.
Optimized the performance of several of the game’s interfaces.
Optimized the visual animations for the hero Seirus and several NPC monsters.
Balance Changes
Adjusted the difficulty of certain stages within Chapters 4 through 10 and adjusted some of the enemy formations within Chapters 6 through 16.
The damage coefficient for Khasos’ level 2′ Throwing Axe’ ability has been increased from 110 % up to 115%.
Adjusted the way damage is calculated for the relic ‘Poisonous Embrace’, damage over time is now determined by the attacker’s own attack rating.
Bug Fixes
Fixed an issue affecting hero unions that was causing incorrect enemy attack ratings to be displayed.
Fixed an issue that was causing some heroes above level 240 to cause overly excessive damage to lower level enemies in the campaign and King’s Tower.
Fixed a bug that was causing hero portraits to display that their ultimate abilities were ready to be activated, but would not activate when the player attempted to.
Fixed a bug affecting Thoran’s third skill ‘ Resurrection’ that would sometimes prevent Thoran from being resurrected after he died.
Fixed an issue that was preventing Numisu’s ‘Offensive Totem’ from correctly being cast behind his enemies.
Fixed several problems causing some hero abilities to not work correctly when test playing heroes.

Yeah, by keeping the probability of other elite heroes at their original levels, you automatically increase the chance of getting your ONE desired hero relative to the others. So agreed, this is complete trash.
Ps. I realize that I might not have explained that well but trust me, I have a maths degree lol. If you only desire one specific hero, leave the other slots empty
Hurray! Got the wish list. Summoned everything I have been saving up. Saving my next 20 for the faction rotation but I only got 1 elite in my first 3 10x summons and it wasn’t even on my wishlist. The best QoL update released seems to be a bust. Bravo!

I want a target feature, say you tap an enemy, then your heroes target it.
There should be a load out update, to save gear equipping on certain characters.
I agree, it’s a pain to switch gear back and forth.
I don’t think the probability of getting a purple actually increases. I think it’s going to be as **** as it is now, but with a small change. So when you get an elite, its linked to the faction, and from that faction, the chances of getting your ‘wished’ hero is increased. It’s not a huge change and they are still maintaining their **** drops. So dont get excited lmao
The percentage of the card pulls should be directly linked to your LVL. As you get to higher LVL’s it should trigger a shift to blues being the majority of the cards pulled and then purple, with a rapid decline in green to help overall progression and limit the possibility of being stuck. This would help player retention and mitigate rage deletion.
That’s a brilliant idea
There’s a very obvious QoL improvement that I think we all really want. Having the ability to check our heroes gear on the “Begin Battle” screen.
Good idea…. I Have gotten 10/10 commons in a 10 summon, when I was in stage 9 and I was PIISSED.

How do we make game requests? Reddit or here?
There are three really obvious QoL improvements I want to suggest:
1. put a warning before each fight where, if your party dies you cannot use them again (in that instance)
2. make Dura’s Tears usable in Peaks of time (and other instances where party loss may equate with failure to complete)
3. wherever hero level is indicated, ALSO indicate max level, i.e. for epic Lucius, his level is 99/100 not just 99.

Those are all unnecessary. Things like death are pretty intuitive if you’ve ever played a game ever, and you learn after the very first time it happens to you what death means in each context in this game. It’s not that hard to remember. Max level changes depending on ascension level. It’s simple enough to either look up that information on a wiki or just look at your units. Adding extra numbers will just take up space for something most people do not need reminding of at all. There is also very little incentive to micromanage levels in this game… Read more »
what do they mean it won’t affect legendary hero drop rates?
Do legendary heroes drop?
Legendary Heroes are heroes who can only get up to Legendary+ tier e.g. Saveas, Arden, Niru and so. Wishlist only works for ascended tier characters.
Next time you are in the game press the heroes button to see all your troops. Press the portraits button which takes you to a screen showing all the available heroes. Here the heroes are split up into different sections according to their maximum possible ascension level.
Legendary heroes wont increase drop rate means that you will still pull the same amount of blue and purple cards but there’s an increased chance of your wishlist heroes appearing.
This update sounds pretty promising! I can’t wait to see it! But I would like to see the percentage of the chance when adding heros to my wishlist. Also can I add heros to my wishlist that I already have?
They might show the chance rate, but probably not. And yes, you can add heroes to the wishlist that you already own.
I’d like to know the wishlist % increase tbh..
Then at least I’d know if it’s worth stalling my campaign progress for.
I put Safiya on my wishlist and got her on the first 10x pull. It could just be luck, but it does seem like the increased chance is significant.

They have a test server that acts as the main server for some South Asian countries. The patch is live on there.

lul, Shemira best tank and healer. Shemira is absolutely amazing, but she does not out tank most tanks, note does she heal anyone else. She does her job super well, but she is just damage and self sustain.
Hey whoever is running this website, good job. You’ve singlehandedly given an otherwise obscure and not particularly well documented game some just love and created both a community and a good central information pool. Keep it up.

Wow, how does that matter. I have Shemira, I use Shemira, and I still hate her because she ruins the fun. This happens to the most of gacha games, when one or two characters emerge to be so supreme over the others that it stagnates meta and reduces variety and creativity in lineups-building to none. And yes, that totally affects this game, at least at mid-game action when everyone already has Shemira and Brutus, but don’t have neither balls nor any need to try things while they are already riding on the meta.
It’s like you either use Shemira, or you use lineups that counters Shemira. Is it good for a game which has like 50 other decent characters?
To be fair everyone knows Shemira, Burris, and Seveas own the game, but at least Shemira doesn’t have a union bonus. Just send Athalia at her so she can’t regen, gets pushed into a tank aoe knock up to prevent self healing and she isn’t to bad after that.

I would agree with you about shemira being one of if not the best character in late game.
I am not sure about best healer… she is a great lifesteal alone but healer would classify as healing another team member would it not?
